The Dean of Students Office in the Division
of Student Affairs works with students, their families, faculty and staff in creating and sustaining a culture of care at UNCG. Assistance is provided to students in matters related to advocacy for any student in distress, student conduct violations, academic integrity concerns, advocacy, and sexual harassment or assault. The office also is responsible for administering the University's policies and procedures regarding student conduct.

- Dr. Brett Carter
Dean of Students
Brett Carter has been involved in higher education for over 20 years. Dr. Carter earned his Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Prior to working in the Dean of Students Office, Brett worked in the Office of Housing and Residence Life (UNCG) as an Area Director (2 years) and as an Assistant Director (6 years). Brett previously worked as an Area Coordinator for High Point University for 5 years. His interests include student advocacy, service learning and leadership, the first-year experience, multicultural affairs, and student academic integrity. He has taught university experience courses to first year students and courses for nontraditional students at a four-year, private university. Brett’s professional organization involvements include the North Carolina College Personnel Association (NCCPA), the North Carolina Housing Officer Association (NCHO), and the Association of Student Judicial Affairs (ASJA). His professional interests are to engage students in educational discourse about personal values, accountability, citizenship, and positive decision-making.

- Mary Anderson
Assistant Dean of Students
Mary Anderson has been involved in higher education for over 11 years. Her experiences include working in the areas of Admissions, Residence Life, and Student Conduct. Mary graduated from the University of South Florida with a Master of Education degree, emphasizing study in College Student Affairs. Since earning her M. Ed., Mary has had the opportunity to work with students in a variety of educational settings including as a Resident Director for the global study abroad program Semester at Sea. Mary joins UNCG following her employment at San Diego State University where she worked as a University Judicial Officer focusing on Greek life and off-campus conduct.

- Joshua Green

Assistant Dean of Students
Joshua Green graduated from UNCG in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems & Operations Management and 2011 with his M.Ed in Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education. He served in the United States Army for 5 years as military police officer which included assisting the United States Secret Service. He is a certified Veterans Service Provider through Operation College Promise. Prior to joining Student Affairs, Joshua worked in the University Registrar's Office as an Operations Specialist and previously in the Academic Systems & Student Achivement office as the Banner Student Trainer. Joshua's interest include student conduct, working with veterans, ASCA, the North Carolina College Personnel Association (NCCPA), and student advocacy.

- Heather Mitchell

Student Services Manager
Heather Mitchell graduated in 2000 from Guilford College with her BA in Theatre Studies and in 2007 from the University of Phoenix with her MBA. She is currently pursuing her MPA at UNCG. Prior to joining the Dean of Students Office, Heather worked for 4 years as the Administrative Support Specialist in the research department of the School of Nursing at UNCG. Heather’s interests include diversity, mediation, and criminology.

- Kevin Erixson

Graduate Student
Kevin Erixson received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2005, and completed his Master’s degree at Florida State University in 2007. Upon graduation, Kevin worked as the Athletic Band Director at High Point University and has taught and performed throughout the Southeast. He is currently at UNC Greensboro, pursuing an M.Ed in Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education.

- Christopher D'auria

Graduate Student
Christopher D'Auria received his Bachelor's degree in Classical Studies from Wake Forest University in 2010. Upon graduation, Chris served as a Fellow in Catholic Campus Ministry at Wake Forest University, specializing in programming, student coordination, and management of communication. He is currently at UNC Greensboro, pursuing a Master's degree in College Counseling and Student Development in Higher Education.
